The BBC has announced a new eight episode paranormal drama scheduled to appear on BBC2 this autumn and which stars, John Simm, Mira Sorvino, the fabulous James Frain who has appeared in nearly every show I’ve really enjoyed over the last few years, True Detective and Sons of Anarchy’s Tory Kittles and Once Upon A Time in Wonderland’s little Alice, Millie Brown.
The series follows a secret society devoted to chasing immortality by seeking refuge in the bodies of others. Based on Michael Marshall Smith’s novel The Intruders, the series is a contemporary and chilling drama set in the moody American Pacific Northwest.
Simm stars as writer Jack Whelan, a former Los Angeles cop with a troubled and violent past who finds the quiet, idyllic life he has crafted with his wife Amy (Sorvino) shattered when she goes missing. Consumed by the search for his wife, Jack starts to wonder whether he ever really knew Amy at all…
With directorial duties being shared between The Blair Witch Project’s Eduardo Sanchez and 13 Sins’ Daniel Stamm and the show being written and executive produced by X-Files, Millenium and Space: Above and Beyond scribe, Glen Morgan, Intruders looks set to be an excellent addition to this Autumn’s schedule. We’ll bring you more about this one as and when we get more information.
