Marvel and Netflix have annouced that David Tennant will be taking on the role of super-villain, Kilgrave in the forthcoming Marvel’s A.K.A. Jessica Jones, due to air on Netflix in 2015.
The series is due to follow the life of former Super Heroine Jones, played by Breaking Bad’s Krysten Ritter. Based on the Brian Michael Bendis comic series, Alias, this 10 episode series will form part of the Hell’s Kitchen series and focus on Jones’ life as a private eye. If this series is anything like the source material, then viewers should be expecting a dark, gritty series with themes of alcoholism, violence and depression rather than the shiny veneer of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Tennant is due to play Kilgrave, a key figure from Jones’ past, and I’m more than intrigued to see what he does with the role given his recent swings between zany characters in Doctor Who and Fright Night and the downright depressive such as Broadchurch/Gracepoint.
